After their PGY-1 year, residents have the option to select a training pathway, or track, that will best prepare them for their chosen career.

These tracks help give residents additional exposure to fields such as outpatient practice (including rural and underserved areas), subspecialties, and opportunities for medical education, research, global medicine, and advocacy. All pediatric residents will fulfill a core set of rotations as defined by the training program and/or ACGME guidelines.

Residents interested in outpatient pediatrics, either academic or private practice, should select this track, which is designed to provide a broad-based education incorporating various rotations commonly encountered in outpatient pediatrics such as asthma, obesity, ADHD, musculoskeletal injuries and sport exams, indications for surgical referrals and interpretation of common imaging modalities.
