The Department of Medicine at the University of Missouri conducts rigorous and leading-edge basic, translational and clinical research. Our departmental culture is one of scientific integrity, creativity, and a strong commitment to developing physician-scientists and faculty researchers. In partnership with investigators from a variety of disciplines, we seek to improve health care outcomes and bring discoveries from the lab to the bedside.

The Department of Medicine receives support for ongoing research from the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute; National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. We are also supported by the American Heart Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and Bayer.
